TAEYONG is officially entering a new chapter. On May 18, the K-Pop star will release his first full-length solo album, WYLD, marking his most significant solo statement yet after building momentum through a pair of increasingly ambitious EPs and this month’s explosive return single.
The announcement arrives just weeks after “Rock Solid,” his April 17 collaboration with Anderson .Paak, reintroduced him with force. Positioned as his first release in over two years, the track paired dense percussion, chant-heavy hooks, and a muscular hip-hop structure with funk-inflected textures.
WYLD is set to become TAEYONG’s first studio album, expanding his solo discography from tightly curated mini albums into a broader format that could further showcase his role not just as a performer, but as a writer, producer, and conceptual architect. While SM has yet to reveal the tracklist, official artwork, or rollout calendar, anticipation is already high given the progression of his previous projects.
SHALALA introduced TAEYONG as a soloist with a bold, self-directed creative identity, blending eccentric production choices with charismatic rap-forward delivery. TAP sharpened that vision in 2024, leaning further into structural experimentation and reinforcing his reputation as one of K-pop’s more unpredictable solo auteurs. Across both projects, his hands-on involvement became central to his artistic narrative, distinguishing his releases from more conventional idol solo debuts.
“Rock Solid” also carried symbolic weight beyond its sound. TAEYONG had previously expressed his desire to collaborate with Anderson .Paak, and the partnership delivered on that long-standing ambition while widening his international reach.
