Demi Lovato is back — and this time, she’s all about joy, rhythm, and release. With It’s Not That Deep, her ninth studio album, the Grammy-nominated pop star takes a confident step away from the rock-driven edge of Holy Fvck (2022) and Revamped (2023) to rediscover the dance-pop sound that first made her a global hitmaker. Released on October 24 via Island Records, the album delivers 11 tracks that sparkle with energy, sensuality, and freedom — all anchored by Lovato’s unmistakable powerhouse vocals.

The record, produced entirely by Zhone with contributions from Leland, Oscar Linnander, and Keith Sorrells, captures Lovato in her most carefree state in years. From the euphoric tempo of “Fast” to the late-night pulse of “Here All Night” and the sultry drive of “Kiss,” It’s Not That Deep channels the same spirit that fueled fan favorites like “Cool for the Summer” and “Confident.” But while the album thrives on its momentum and club-ready polish, it occasionally leans too heavily on familiar formulas — leaving some moments feeling repetitive.

Still, Lovato’s voice remains a commanding force, especially when she strips away the production layers on closing track “Ghost.” Here, her emotional delivery reminds listeners of the depth that’s always set her apart. It’s Not That Deep may not reinvent her sound, but it celebrates a star who’s rediscovered the joy of pop — and herself — in the process.

Below, we ranked the best songs from Demi Lovato’s new album It’s Not That Deep.
