Demi Lovato is returning to her pop roots. The Grammy-nominated pop star unleashes her ninth studio album, It’s Not That Deep, tonight via Island Records. Arriving on October 24, the project marks a full-circle return to dance-pop, offering a vibrant contrast to her rock-driven sound on Holy Fvck (2022) and Revamped (2023).

Produced entirely by Zhone, with contributions from Leland, Oscar Linnander, and Keith Sorrells, It’s Not That Deep captures Lovato’s renewed joy in making music. The album features 11 tracks — including the singles “Fast,” “Here All Night,” and “Kiss” — showcasing her powerhouse vocals layered over high-energy, club-ready production.

Lovato described the album as “free, fun, and alive,” signaling a shift from introspection to liberation. Building anticipation for It’s Not That Deep, the pop star revealed that she feels more comfortable in this musical territory — the one that gave fans some of her biggest hits such as “Confident” and “Cool for the Summer.” In a recent appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast, she explained, “The rock stuff didn’t work for me. It was a passion project… But this one is fun.”

The album’s creation followed a period of personal rediscovery. In 2024, Lovato made her directorial debut with the documentary Child Star, which led her to question whether music still fulfilled her. But while working on the film, she found inspiration again. “I fell back in love with music,” she said, later sharing “You’ll Be OK, Kid” from the film’s soundtrack.

From there, the singer fully embraced a new chapter. Early teasers began in mid-2025 when Demi wiped her social media accounts and hinted at a return through cryptic lyric posts. The album’s rollout officially began in August with the lead single “Fast,” setting the tone with fast-paced beats and glossy synths. “Here All Night” followed in September, while her most recent release, “Kiss,” further marked her return to the dance floor.

To celebrate the album’s release and its vibrant energy, Demi will finally reunite with her fans. The 33-year-old singer will headline One Night Only at the Palladium in Los Angeles this Saturday, October 25, marking her first major live performance in two years.
