On Friday, May 3rd, Willow returned with her sixth studio album, “Empathogen.” In this record, the 23-year-old singer makes a strong shift, departing from her previous Pop-Punk era and experimenting as much as possible. The result is an album in which she tries to take listeners into her emotional patterns and experiences. Many songs sound distorted, and some of them lack lyrics (“No Words 1 & 2”). Willow cited Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, and Sarah Vaughan as her inspirations for this record, explaining that she aims to create a sense of paranoia.

The album features just 12 songs, with a total length of 32 minutes. Jon Batiste and St. Vincent are the only featured artists, appearing on “Home” and “Pain For Fun,” respectively. Two tracks have been released as singles: “Symptom of Life” and “Big Feelings.”
