Dua Lipa has just released her brand new single “Training Season.” Produced by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, the song serves as the second single from Dua’s upcoming third studio album. The Popstar debuted this new single live at the 2024 Grammy Awards earlier this month. Dua has also shared three other versions of “Training Season”: extended, instrumental, and acapella.

Despite not having unveiled a release date or a title, Dua talked about ‘DL3’ several times. In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, the 28-year-old singer confirmed that, in the record, she explores a new sound inspired by 1970s psychedelic music, while still maintaining its primary pop essence.

The album’s lead single, “Houdini,” was released in November 2023 and peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart.

Below are the lyrics for Dua Lipa’s new single “Training Season.”

Someone that I can give my heart to? (Heart to)

Or just the poison that I’m drawn to? (I’m drawn to)

It can be hard to tell the difference late at night

Play fair (Play fair)

Is that a compass in your nature? (Compass in your nature)

Or are you tricky ’cause I’ve been there? (I’ve been there)

And baby, I don’t need to learn that lesson twice (Lesson twice)

But if you really wanna go there

You should know I

Need someone to hold me close

Deeper than I’ve ever known

Whose lovе feels like a rodeo

Knows just how to take control

Whеn I’m vulnerable

He’s straight talking to my soul

Conversation overload

Got me feeling vertigo

Are you somebody who can go there?

‘Cause I don’t wanna have to show ya

If that ain’t you, then let me know, yeah

‘Cause training season’s over (Over, over, over, over)

(Training season’s over)

I tried (I tried)

To see my lovers in a good light (Good light)

Don’t wanna do it just to be nice (To be nice)

Don’t wanna have to teach you how to love me right

I hope it hits me like an arrow

Someone with some potential

Is it too much to ask for?

Who understands I

Need someone to hold me close

Deeper than I’ve ever known

Whose love feels like a rodeo

‘Cause training season’s over

Now is your time

Run when you hear that whistle blow

Are you on my team

Or stuck on the sidelines waiting for someone to tell you to go?

(Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go)
