Lana Del Rey has finally secured her long-rumored James Bond moment—just not on the big screen. On April 15, the singer surprise-released “First Light,” the official theme for the upcoming video game 007 First Light, marking her first formal entry into the Bond universe.
The track arrives over a decade after Del Rey’s near-miss with the franchise. Back in 2015, she wrote “24” for Spectre, though the film ultimately selected Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall,” which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. That chapter has now come full circle, with “First Light” embracing the cinematic grandeur long associated with Bond themes.
Unlike the film series, 007 First Light introduces a rebooted take on James Bond. Developed by IO Interactive, the action-adventure title follows a younger Bond navigating MI6’s training program, offering an origin story separate from the Daniel Craig era. The game is scheduled for release on May 27, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version expected later in Q3.
For Del Rey, the release adds another layer to an already active year. On February 17, she unveiled “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” followed by its music video a day later, continuing the rollout of her upcoming tenth studio album Stove.
