Cardi B has publicly responded to Latto after the Atlanta rapper addressed their fractured relationship during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club. In a lengthy statement posted on X, Cardi acknowledged the controversy surrounding their leaked 2025 phone call and revealed that she had spent more than a year attempting to reconnect privately.

I truly understand how you feel…and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public,” Cardi wrote. “On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm. There’s a difference in what I said vs what I meant.

The exchange marks the latest chapter in a situation that has lingered since 2025, when a private phone call leaked online shortly after Latto recorded a verse for the remix of Cardi’s “ErrTime.” During the call, Cardi referred to Latto as “pussy ass Latto,” a moment that quickly spread across social media and sparked speculation about tension between the two collaborators.

Speaking to The Breakfast Club this week, Latto confirmed that a line on her recently released album Big Mama was directed at Cardi and admitted the fallout left a lasting impact.

Well, yes it was about Cardi,” Latto said. “I rap about what’s going on in my life. I was at an early stage of my pregnancy and I rushed to the studio to do this verse for her first week sales (Errtime Remix). Literally like two days later, I’m seeing all over the internet I’m being called p***y. I’m pregnant, emotions tied. And it was someone I deadass looked at as a friend.

Latto added that the song was not intended as a diss record, explaining: “I’m open to a conversation, when, I don’t know. It wasn’t a diss, it was where I was in life.

Cardi’s response attempted to provide additional context surrounding her mindset at the time. The rapper explained that she was eight months pregnant, promoting her album, and emotionally overwhelmed when the controversy erupted.

When the call came out I was eight months pregnant, had just released my album, and was extremely overwhelmed and emotional,” she wrote. “That’s not to excuse what I said but to let you know where I was in my head. I genuinely felt bad about what happened.”

Perhaps the most revealing portion of Cardi’s statement involved her efforts to repair the relationship behind the scenes. According to the rapper, she reached out repeatedly throughout 2025 and 2026.

In 2025 and 2026 I made multiple attempts to connect,” Cardi explained. “I spoke with your manager, your sister, and even texted you directly to take full responsibility. I always had love and respect for you. I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us. I wanted to connect with you but you wanted to address it on your album.”

The situation is particularly notable given the pair’s collaborative history. Their 2023 hit “Put It On Da Floor Again” became one of the biggest female rap collaborations of the decade, earning praise for their chemistry and helping propel Latto’s viral breakout moment even further. They reunited again in 2025 for the “ErrTime” remix, though that release ultimately became overshadowed by the leaked call.
