November’s first New Music Friday brings an unexpected Christmas release from Olivia Rodrigo, the long-awaited debut album from Dove Cameron and a new chapter in Jack Harlow’s Sweet Action series.
Olivia Rodrigo is introducing her first original Christmas song with “take me home (4 christmas),” arriving November 6 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET through Interscope Records. Co-written with longtime collaborators Dan Nigro and Amy Allen and produced by Nigro, the track comes with an official music video featuring Cynthia Nixon and Saturday Night Live’s Ben Marshall. Set in a cozy holiday environment, the visual includes a game of Heads Up, a fireplace and plenty of seasonal decorations. Limited 7-inch vinyl and cassette editions are also part of the release, giving fans physical versions of the festive single. The song follows Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, and her recent appearance on Chappell Roan’s remix of “expectations.”
Dove Cameron, meanwhile, finally delivers her debut studio album, Final Girl, on November 6 through Disruptor Records and Columbia. The 11-track project runs approximately 34 minutes and arrives after years of label delays and material being rewritten. Previously released songs “When in Rome” and “Do the Math,” alongside promotional track “Breaks Open,” introduced an album built around the horror-film concept of the final girl: the survivor who makes it through the chaos and takes control of her own story. Compared with her 2023 EP Alchemical: Volume 1, the new record moves between confessional vulnerability and brighter, more optimistic pop.
Jack Harlow completes the week’s major releases with Sweet Action II, a seven-track EP arriving at midnight on November 6 through Atlantic Records. Six years after the original Sweet Action helped introduce him to a wider audience with “Whats Poppin,” the rapper revisits the title with a more mature perspective on romance, attraction, jealousy and the tension between commitment and independence. The sequel features Babyface on “Too Soon” and includes “SIGNORA,” “SHE GETS ME,” “610 MAGNOLIA,” “HOLD BACK,” “PRESSURE” and “MOVE ON.”
Noteworthy releases also come from Lil Baby, Slayyyter, Ava Max, Chlöe, Coi Leray, James Blunt, Rex Orange County, and more.
