In a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Addison Rae announced a significant shift in her artistic identity: she will now perform under the mononym “Addison.” This change coincides with the release of her debut studio album, Addison, set to drop on June 6, 2025.
Addison explained that the decision to drop her surname reflects a desire to return to her core self. “I think for me, if you got introduced to me as Addison Rae, as most people did, you’ll always know me as that,” she shared. “But I think for me, and what making music is doing for just my own soul and heart, is bringing me back to the core of everything.” She emphasized that while “Addison Rae” remains a part of her, the name “Addison” represents a more authentic version of herself. “It was all about coming back to the center of it all, which is just Addison.”
