Travis Scott has shared new insight into the creative vision behind his new album, revealing an eclectic list of influences ranging from classic rock legends to hip-hop contemporaries. The rapper discussed the project while appearing on the latest cover of Variety, where he also confirmed he remains fully focused on delivering another stadium-sized era.
Among the artists shaping his current mindset are Parliament, Oasis, Van Halen, Don Toliver, Raphael Saadiq, and Daft Punk. Scott singled out Van Halen’s songwriting approach in particular, explaining that he’s drawn to the band’s “mega-choruses and hard bass lines” as he continues refining the record.
Speaking about his ambitions, Scott made it clear that music remains his primary mission despite branching into acting, fashion, and other ventures.
“I’m here to conquer who I am as an artist. In these side quests — these cool things I like to do — I never lose sight of the main goal. I’m still trying to do every stadium in the United States and the world. I’m working on an album right now, and that’s f***ing amazing. And I’m constantly pushing myself to push the sonics to try to make something that I haven’t made before.”
The comments arrive just weeks after Travis Scott provided one of his strongest updates on the project during an interview with L’Officiel Magazine. At the time, he revealed he had spent the past year and a half rebuilding his production process from scratch, creating beats himself while experimenting with new sounds.
“I’ve been mad inspired over the last year and a half,” Scott said in June. “I’ve been buckled down and back building beats from scratch, just creating and pushing the sound.”
Hints about the album have surfaced throughout 2026. During the UEFA Champions League Final in Budapest, Scott attracted attention by wearing what appeared to be a bright red iPod clipped to his belt. When asked about it, he smiled and replied, “Gotta keep the new album safe,” fueling widespread speculation online.
Earlier this year, Scott also teased fans through Instagram by sharing footage from the studio alongside the caption, “My version of the gym / Non stop head bangers / ball.” Before that, he reassured supporters in January with the message, “LOVE TO ALL THE FAN PAGES YALL KEEP IT ROCKING WE SHALL EAT SOOOOONNN.”
The anticipation follows a historic commercial run. Scott wrapped his Circus Maximus Tour on November 20, 2025, after 88 shows across five continents. The trek grossed $265.1 million and sold more than 2.1 million tickets, making it the highest-grossing solo rap tour ever reported. His upcoming album will also mark his first solo project since Utopia, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in August 2023 with 496,000 equivalent album units during its opening week.
