Anaïs & The Hoops is opening the new year with a fresh new music video. The Brooklyn-based indie project has unveiled the official video for “Growing Pains,” a standout track from Anaïs’ debut EP of the same name, released last fall. The video deepens the song’s emotional core, framing it as a meditation on friendship, memory, and the people who grow alongside us.
At its heart, “Growing Pains” treats platonic love with the same gravity often reserved for romance. Anaïs describes the song as a tribute to lifelong friendships, particularly those that stretch from childhood into adulthood. “Friendships shape us just as deeply as romantic love,” she explains. “The song is a love letter to best friends and to growing up alongside the people who feel like home.”
Directed by Grace Pomilla, the video mirrors those themes through a collage of intimacy and nostalgia. Shot at Purgatory in Bushwick, it blends warm onstage performance footage with personal childhood home videos, creating a visual connection between past and present. In the video, Anaïs appears alongside her full band and a circle of close friends, reinforcing the idea of chosen family that runs through the song. In Anaïs’ own words, the video is “nostalgic, a touch melancholy, and completely dreamy.”
Musically, “Growing Pains” captures what has quickly made Anaïs & The Hoops a standout act in the indie music scene, with jazz-inflected vocals and hook-driven pop melodies. That jazz influence runs deep in her roots. Raised in San Diego and now based in Brooklyn, Anaïs began performing at a young age and spent much of her twenties singing professionally in jazz clubs.
That journey culminated in the September 2025 release of Growing Pains, a debut EP that quickly earned acclaim. With the new year just getting started, the “Growing Pains” video continues Anaïs & The Hoops’ momentum. Watch it below.
