ROSÉ is back with “New Trick,” a high-energy pop-rock single that turns heartbreak into a playful declaration of confidence. Released September 18 alongside its music video, the track marks her first solo release since Rosie and introduces a brighter, more rebellious side of her sound.
Driven by crunchy electric guitar riffs, punchy drums and a fast-moving arrangement, “New Trick” trades the melancholy that defined parts of Rosie for a more carefree attitude. ROSÉ moves between soft, melodic verses and explosive, shout-along choruses, giving the song the feel of a live-band anthem built for a crowded room.

The lyrics center on moving forward after heartbreak without losing a sense of humor. Rather than dwelling on what went wrong, ROSÉ approaches the breakup with defiance, turning vulnerability into confidence and presenting herself as someone ready to pick herself up and try something new.
That energy carries directly into the music video. Directed with a rebellious punk-pop aesthetic, the visual places ROSÉ in a series of colorful, nostalgic settings while she performs alongside a live band in a spacious indoor gymnasium.
“New Trick” arrives exactly one week after ROSÉ first teased the release, making for a particularly quick rollout. The single is also connected to Apple’s latest iPhone campaign, with the singer appearing in promotional imagery for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Apple introduced the new devices September 9 at its “Surprise and Shine” event, with both Pro models scheduled to go on sale September 18. Their camera systems include three 48-megapixel rear cameras, a new Fusion main camera with a mechanical variable aperture and a telephoto lens offering up to 8x optical-quality zoom.
ROSÉ teased the collaboration with a playful message referencing the song: “iPhone, new trick, watch this, watch this ahhhh!!!!” The campaign gives the single a major visual platform while keeping the music video itself focused on its colorful, rebellious identity.
For ROSÉ, the release also marks her first solo music since Rosie, her debut studio album released December 6, 2024, through The Black Label and Atlantic Records. The 12-track album was written and co-produced by ROSÉ alongside collaborators including Bruno Mars, Carter Lang and Omer Fedi.
Rosie debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with more than 100,000 equivalent album units in its first week, while “APT.” with Bruno Mars became a global hit and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. The album also featured “Number One Girl” and “Toxic Till the End.”
