Ariana Grande is back at the top of the UK charts. The pop superstar’s latest single, “hate that i made you love me,” has debuted at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, earning her eighth career chart-topper and first UK No. 1 in nearly six years.

The achievement ends the dominant run of Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In,” which spent five consecutive weeks at No. 1 and accumulated 13 weeks at the summit overall before slipping to No. 2 this week.

Released on May 29 through Ariana Grande’s Babydoll Music imprint under exclusive license to Republic Records, “hate that i made you love me” serves as the lead single from her upcoming eighth studio album, petal, due July 31. The track was written alongside longtime collaborator Max Martin and immediately made an impact on streaming platforms, pulling in 8.7 million Spotify streams on its first day. That figure marked Grande’s second-biggest Spotify debut ever, trailing only 2024’s “yes, and?

With the new chart victory, Grande expands a UK No. 1 catalog that already includes “Problem” featuring Iggy Azalea, “Bang Bang” with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, “thank u, next,” “7 rings,” “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored,” and “Positions.” The latest success also elevates her among the most successful acts in Official Chart history, drawing level with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Oasis, and The Rolling Stones on the all-time list of UK chart-toppers.

Elsewhere on the UK charts, Paul McCartney extends his own historic record on the albums side. His latest project, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, debuts at No. 1, giving the former Beatle an extraordinary 24th UK No. 1 album across a career spanning more than seven decades.
