Ariana Grande has shared another glimpse into Petal, continuing the monthly rollout that has kept fans counting down to the album’s July 31 release. On July 18, the singer posted a new teaser on Instagram featuring the unfinished lyric: “i hear them all say …”
Although the post reveals only a few words, it immediately fueled speculation about the song’s meaning and where it fits within Petal. Grande has made a habit of unveiling cryptic lyric snippets in the weeks leading up to the album, allowing fans to piece together its emotional narrative one post at a time.
The latest teaser follows a similar update shared on July 8, when Grande posted an alternate album cover alongside a longer lyrical passage centered on healing, hope, and starting over. That excerpt read: “someday all the seeds will open / all of the human life i’ve dreamt of / will bloom all around, unfrozen…”, reinforcing the floral imagery that has become central to the Petal era.
Grande’s strategy has remained remarkably consistent throughout the campaign. Each monthly teaser has arrived around the eighth day of the month.
Excitement surrounding Petal has only intensified following the success of lead single “hate that i made you love me.” The track debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Grande’s 10th career chart-topper and extending her streak as one of pop’s most commercially successful artists.
Meanwhile, Grande is balancing the album campaign with her ongoing Eternal Sunshine Tour. Recent concerts have generated headlines beyond the music, particularly after she repeatedly changed the Ricky Alvarez lyric during performances of “thank u, next.”
The singer has also continued surprising audiences throughout the tour. During her July 16 concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, she brought out Ty Dolla $ign for a live performance of “Safety Net,” marking the first time the pair performed the Positions collaboration together during the current tour.
