KATSEYE has announced that their new single “Animal” will arrive on Thursday, July 24, while unveiling the first teaser for the accompanying music video.
The rollout begins with the full music video premiering on July 23 at 9 p.m. PT (July 24 at 12 a.m. ET), ahead of the song’s official release later that day. Although the preview lasts just 31 seconds, it introduces a striking visual concept that immediately sets “Animal” apart from the group’s previous releases.
Rather than embracing bright pop aesthetics, KATSEYE leans into a darker, cinematic direction. The teaser places the members in shadow-filled hallways illuminated by flashes of red light, dressed in leather jackets, tailored suits, and edgy high-fashion looks. Quick cuts between intense close-ups build suspense, while one memorable shot features a long nail labeled “Freaky.”
The accompanying production reinforces the mysterious atmosphere. Pulsing beats and layered synths remain subtle throughout the teaser, allowing the visuals to dominate while gradually building tension without revealing the full track.
The announcement arrives during one of the busiest stretches of KATSEYE’s career. Earlier this month, the group confirmed that its documentary film, KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS, will premiere in cinemas worldwide beginning Aug. 12, just two days before the release of its third EP, WILD. Produced by Interscope Films and HYBE x Geffen in partnership with Boardwalk Pictures, the documentary follows the members’ journey from Dream Academy to becoming one of pop’s fastest-rising global acts.
“Animal” follows the June collaboration “ICONIC BY MISTAKE,” which united KATSEYE with LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT in one of HYBE’s most ambitious crossover releases. That track addressed public scrutiny and online discourse surrounding the three groups, while the new teaser suggests KATSEYE is now entering a chapter centered entirely on its own identity.
