Beyoncé has claimed another fan-voted victory. According to our latest weekly Instagram poll, the superstar’s surprise single “Morning Dew (Donk)” was overwhelmingly chosen as the best new release of the week, comfortably finishing ahead of new projects from Future, Role Model and Suki Waterhouse.
The poll results placed “Morning Dew (Donk)” in first with 55% of the vote. Future’s new album The Real Me finished second with 27%, followed by Role Model’s “Joy” at 12% and Suki Waterhouse’s Loveland with 6%.
The result caps off another successful week for Beyoncé, who surprised fans by releasing “Morning Dew (Donk)” on July 4 without any prior announcement. The song marked her first original solo release in more than two years. Released on U.S. Independence Day, the track continued Beyoncé’s tradition of turning unexpected drops into cultural events.
Originally, fans believed the single was opening the door to Beyoncé’s next musical chapter following the Cowboy Carter era. Earlier this year, fans began speculating that the third act of her trilogy could embrace rock influences after the launch of the “Beymine” Valentine’s Day merchandise collection, which featured leather-inspired visuals and references to rock and roll. Those theories only intensified with the arrival of “Morning Dew (Donk),” but Parkwood Entertainment later confirmed that the song is set to appear only on the 20th Anniversary edition of B’Day. The accompanying lyric video was directed by longtime collaborator Cliff Watts, who also photographed Beyoncé’s iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover in 2007.
Competition was equally notable. Future delivered one of the biggest hip-hop debuts of the year with The Real Me, generating 23.8 million Spotify streams during its first 24 hours while occupying 18 of the Top 20 positions on U.S. Apple Music.
