The road to Icon has been carefully mapped out. After keeping a low profile in 2024, Faiyaz stirred speculation in May 2025 amid headlines linking him to Halle Bailey and DDG. Then, on July 3, he wiped his Instagram clean, sparking rumors of a new era. Hours later, he confirmed the album with a promotional image featuring the title Icon and its September 19 release date. The timing immediately drew attention, as Cardi B’s sophomore album Am I The Drama? is also set to drop the same day—setting up one of the biggest chart battles of the year.
To kick off the rollout, Faiyaz released a two-pack of singles on July 4: “Tony Soprano” and “Peter Pan.” Despite the album dropping in just a few hours, the R&B star has not unveiled the full tracklist yet, so potential collaborators remain under wraps, keeping fans in suspense.
