Cardi B knows how to turn an album rollout into a full cultural moment. With her highly anticipated sophomore record Am I The Drama? arriving on September 19, the Bronx superstar is doubling down on creative promotion—this time, taking it old-school.
In a viral video posted across her social platforms, Cardi is seen hitting the sidewalks of New York City with a rug full of CDs and all available cover variants of her new album. “My label said I gotta get out in these streets and sell this album,” she joked in the clip, showing off her trademark humor as she playfully attempts to “sell” Am I The Drama? to pedestrians.

The stunt immediately struck a chord with fans, many of whom praised the nostalgic strategy. “Old-fashioned promo, love to see it,” one user wrote on X, while another commented, “Cardi is a comedic genius when it comes to marketing her product.” The approach recalls the early 2000s, when rappers often sold mixtapes directly to listeners—bridging the gap between grassroots hustle and major-label polish.
The street promo follows weeks of buzz-building around Am I The Drama? Just days earlier, Cardi went viral on TikTok after previewing her new track “Bodega Baddie.” In the teaser, she sported a fake pregnancy bump, sparking speculation before fans realized it was yet another cheeky marketing move.
The upcoming album—her first since 2018’s Grammy-winning Invasion of Privacy—features 23 tracks, including already-released singles “Outside” and “Imaginary Playerz,” the latter of which samples Jay-Z’s 1997 classic.
Beyond the album, Cardi B has also teased her first major tour in six years. During a recent Instagram Live, she hinted that dates would be announced “very, very soon.”
