In the lead-up to her SummerSlam appearance, Cardi was woven into playful narrative feuds with WWE Women’s Champion Naomi, Chelsea Green, and Bayley. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of her sophomore album. Cardi B recently confirmed that her long-awaited second studio album, Am I the Drama?, will drop on September 19. The album will feature 23 tracks, marking Cardi’s first full-length LP since her Grammy-winning debut Invasion of Privacy (2018).
Not much is known about the record, but fans are already buzzing about a possible feature from SZA, following SZA’s enigmatic comment under Cardi’s album announcement: “Lemme send this verse, chile.” While Cardi has stated that there will be no female rap features, the door remains open for collaborations with artists from other genres. A possible SZA appearance on the record would be a major collaboration between two of the biggest female artists of the past few years.
Cardi B’s debut, Invasion of Privacy, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, sold 255,000 units in its first week, and earned her the Grammy for Best Rap Album—making her only the second female rapper to win that award. It featured chart-toppers like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” and established her as a dominant force in the music industry. Seven years later, Am I the Drama? is set to test whether Cardi can once again shift culture and define a new era of her artistry.
