Chappell Roan has announced that she is no longer represented by the Wasserman agency, becoming one of the first high-profile artists to publicly sever ties following renewed scrutiny surrounding founder and CEO Casey Wasserman. The decision arrives amid industry backlash tied to resurfaced documents that include flirtatious email exchanges between Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003, years before Maxwell’s conviction for sex trafficking related to Jeffrey Epstein.
The emails, released as part of recently unsealed records, reignited debate across the entertainment and sports industries, where Wasserman remains one of the most influential power brokers. Wasserman has since issued an apology, stating that he deeply regrets the correspondence and stressing that he never had a personal or business relationship with Epstein.
Roan addressed her decision directly in a statement shared on Instagram. “As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman,” she wrote. “I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
The “Pink Pony Club” singer continued by emphasizing respect for the agency’s wider staff while drawing a clear line at leadership accountability. “I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by. Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
