Charli xcx has made UK chart history with Music, Fashion, Film, becoming the first British female artist to score two new No. 1 albums in the same calendar year. The milestone arrives in the same week that Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In” becomes the longest-running No. 1 single in Official Singles Chart history.
Music, Fashion, Film enters the UK Albums Chart at No. 1, giving Charli her fourth chart-topping album and extending a run that began with CRASH in 2022. The new record follows Wuthering Heights, which reached the summit in February 2026, making Charli the first British female artist to claim two new No. 1 albums in one year.
Her latest chart-topper joins CRASH, BRAT and Wuthering Heights as her four No. 1 albums in the UK. Music, Fashion, Film also leads the Official Albums Vinyl Chart, recording the biggest vinyl sales for an album during the past seven days.
Charli now joins an exclusive group of artists who have scored two UK No. 1 albums within a single calendar year. The club includes The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John and Ed Sheeran, while international female artists such as Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Diana Ross have also achieved the feat.
Released on July 24, Music, Fashion, Film marks Charli’s eighth studio album. The pop-focused project features production from longtime collaborators A. G. Cook and Finn Keane, with both producers also contributing to the songwriting alongside Charli.
Meanwhile, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean have reached an even more historic milestone on the Official Singles Chart. Their collaboration “Rein Me In” has now spent 19 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, officially becoming the longest-running chart-topper in UK Official Chart history.
The achievement ends a record that had stood since 1953, when Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” established an 18-week benchmark. More than seven decades later, Fender and Dean have finally surpassed it, with “Rein Me In” reaching 19 weeks at the summit.
The song first entered the UK chart in June 2025 before eventually reaching No. 1 on February 20, 2026. Harry Styles briefly interrupted its reign with “American Girls” on March 13, but “Rein Me In” returned to the top seven days later.
Only Olivia Rodrigo’s “drop dead” and Ariana Grande’s “hate that i made you love me” have managed to displace the collaboration since then. Each time, Fender and Dean’s track returned to No. 1, steadily rewriting the record books.
Its 16th week at No. 1 had already pushed “Rein Me In” beyond Wet Wet Wet’s “Love Is All Around” as the longest-running chart-topper by a British act. The song subsequently matched Bryan Adams’ 16-week run with “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” before surpassing Frankie Laine’s 18-week record.
