Ed Sheeran has topped this week’s new-music conversation, as fans crowned Play (Deluxe) the Best Release of the Week in our latest poll on X. The expanded edition of Sheeran’s ninth studio album secured a dominant 44% of the vote, outperforming new offerings from ILLIT, Lil Uzi Vert, and the collaborative remix from mgk and the Jonas Brothers.
Released on November 28, Play (Deluxe) transforms the original September album into a sprawling 27-track experience. Led by “Skeletons,” the deluxe edition introduces nine new songs, five bonus tracks, and a remix of “Sapphire.” As Sheeran prepares to launch his Loop Tour in December, fans now have twice the material to look forward to on stage.
Trailing behind Sheeran, ILLIT’s single album “Not Cute Anymore” and Lil Uzi Vert’s “Chanel Boy” tied with 25% of the vote each. ILLIT’s project marks a striking reinvention for the HYBE girl group, shedding their trademark sweetness for a cooler, reggae-tinged confidence. It also follows the momentum of their June EP bomb.
Lil Uzi Vert’s “Chanel Boy,” meanwhile, ushers in a new independent era for the rapper. Distributed through Roc Nation, the track celebrates full creative control and master ownership. In fourth place, with 6% of the vote, mgk and the Jonas Brothers delivered one of the week’s biggest surprises: a pop-punk crossover on the newly released “Cliché (Jonas Brothers Remix).”
