Olivia Rodrigo’s new era scored massive first day numbers. Just one day after its release, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love opened with a staggering 81.59 million streams on Spotify, securing one of the largest album debuts of the year.

The blockbuster opening arrives only hours after Spotify confirmed that the album became the most-streamed album by a female artist in a single day during 2026.

Released on June 12 through Geffen Records, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love immediately translated anticipation into consumption. The project was powered by the success of its advance singles “Drop Dead” and “The Cure,” both of which became major global hits before the album’s arrival.

The biggest surprise from day one, however, came from “Stupid Song.” The track debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart with 10.1 million streams, giving Rodrigo her third chart-topper on the platform this year. Earlier in 2026, both “Drop Dead” and “The Cure” also reached No. 1 globally.

With that achievement, Rodrigo becomes the first artist to score three No. 1 hits on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart in 2026. The album’s dominance extended far beyond its lead track. Every song from the project landed inside the Global Top 18.

Among the standout performers were “The Cure” at No. 2 with 7.2 million streams, “Drop Dead” at No. 3 with 7.1 million, and “Honeybee” at No. 4 with 7 million. Other album tracks posted similarly impressive numbers, including “Maggots for Brains” with 6.3 million streams, “u + me = <3” with 6 million, “My Way” with 5.9 million, and the Robert Smith collaboration “What’s Wrong With Me” with 5.8 million.

Begged,” “Less,” “Purple,” “Expectations,” and “Cigarette Smoke” also secured places within the chart’s upper tier, giving Rodrigo one of the most comprehensive streaming takeovers seen this year.

The strong debut continues a remarkable campaign that began on April 17 with “Drop Dead.” The synth-pop single debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, extending Rodrigo’s record as the first artist whose first three lead album singles all opened atop the chart.

Momentum continued on May 22 when “The Cure” arrived. The acoustic ballad reached No. 1 in several international markets and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 while becoming one of the defining streaming hits of the year.

Beyond Spotify, the album also shot to No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Albums Chart within hours of release. Rodrigo additionally finished June 12 as Spotify’s most-streamed artist worldwide, placing her ahead of every other act on the platform during the album’s opening day.
