Ed Sheeran has made a lighthearted response to a negative review of his latest single, “Azizam.” TikTok star Zachary (The Swiftologist) shared a video where he criticized Ed’s new track. In response, the pop superstar simply commented “lol” on the post. Zachary replied by reaffirming his opinion, saying, “King I’m so sorry. But we need to come up with something else.”

Released last Friday, “Azizam” is the lead single from Ed’s upcoming eighth studio album, Play, and represents a bold step in his musical evolution. The track blends traditional Persian sounds with Sheeran’s familiar pop sensibilities, a move that has caught the attention of both fans and critics alike. The British singer collaborated with producer Ilya Salmanzadeh, who has Persian roots, to bring these cultural influences into the song.

The title of the track, “Azizam,” translates to “my dear” or “my beloved” in Persian (Farsi), a fitting sentiment as Ed revealed that the song is a heartfelt dedication to his wife, Cherry Seaborn. Despite the initial backlash from some listeners, the song captured the attention of a large portion of fans, who voted it as InMusic’s best new release of the past week. Now, Sheerios—his dedicated fanbase—are eagerly awaiting the release of Play and are excited to hear how the rest of the album sounds, marking the beginning of a whole new era in his unparalleled career.
