April couldn’t have had a better start. The first New Music Friday of the month was packed with a diverse mix of new releases. Miley Cyrus officially kicked off her new era—the Grammy-winning singer delivered three singles from her upcoming album this week: “Prelude,” “Something Beautiful,” and “End of the World.” The latter captured fans’ hearts, with many hailing it as one of Miley’s best songs, and it debuted at No. 33 on the Daily Global Spotify chart.

Ed Sheeran also stepped into a new chapter of his career. Following his Mathematic Symbols albums, he released a new single, “Azizam,” which serves as the lead track from his upcoming album Play. Djo unleashed his third studio album The Crux, which was preceded by the singles “Basic Being Basic,” “Delete Ya,” and “Potion.” PinkPantheress made her long-awaited return with the brand-new single “Tonight.”

As always, InMusic polled fans on X (formerly Twitter) to determine the week’s favorite new release. Ed Sheeran topped the poll, with “Azizam” receiving 66% of the vote, followed by “End of the World” with 22%. PinkPantheress’s “Tonight” earned 8%, while Djo’s new album came in last with 4%.

Serving as the lead single from his upcoming eighth studio album Play, Ed Sheeran pushes sonic boundaries in “Azizam” by infusing Persian musical elements into his signature pop style. Aiming to explore the rich tapestry of Persian music, the British singer worked with producer Ilya Salmanzadeh, who has Persian roots. The song’s title has a double meaning: “my dear” or “my beloved” in Persian (Farsi). As Ed himself revealed, the track is a heartfelt dedication to his wife, Cherry Seaborn.
