Ellie Goulding has announced a mysterious new release titled “We Know Too Much,” arriving September 7 at midnight BST. The cryptic announcement comes just days after the release of her sixth studio album, I Know Too Much, and after fans questioned the unusually quiet rollout surrounding the project.
Goulding revealed the new title Saturday afternoon with a single image of herself wearing a white dress outdoors, accompanied by the message: “We Know Too Much. Ours on Monday 12am BST.” She offered no explanation about what the release contains, immediately sending fans into speculation over whether it could be new songs, a deluxe edition, or a separate companion project.

The timing is particularly striking because I Know Too Much was released on September 4 through Polydor Records with little of the promotional activity normally associated with a major album launch. Ellie Goulding’s last social media post about the record came three days before the album arrived, and neither the singer nor her label appeared to mark its midnight release with a major campaign.
That silence had already frustrated fans before the mysterious announcement. Goulding also cancelled an intimate album release concert scheduled for September 5, following previously announced changes to launch shows in Southampton and Bristol. The Kingston date went ahead on August 31, while Liverpool and Manchester remain scheduled for September 6 and 7.
I Know Too Much is a 10-track, 35-minute album built around Goulding’s experiences over the past several years, including the end of her marriage to Caspar Jopling, a new relationship with actor Beau Minniear, the birth of her second child and a dispute with her former management team that has developed into a lawsuit. The album moves away from the festival-oriented electronic pop of 2023’s Higher Than Heaven, leaning further into guitar, acoustic textures and more personal songwriting.
Ellie Goulding has described I Know Too Much as an exploration of “love and power, trust and instinct,” alongside the stories people construct about themselves and others.
