Nearly 25 years after their debut, Gorillaz have finally made their long-awaited appearance on Saturday Night Live. The influential virtual band served as the musical guest on the March 7, 2026 episode hosted by Ryan Gosling, marking the group’s first performance on the legendary late-night program since their formation in 2001.
The group opened the show with “Clint Eastwood,” the breakthrough single from their self-titled debut album Gorillaz. Released in 2001, the track helped establish the project as one of the most distinctive acts of the early 2000s, blending hip-hop rhythms, alternative rock textures and cinematic influences.
The performance also featured a special appearance from Del the Funky Homosapien.
Later in the episode, Gorillaz shifted to their latest chapter with a performance of “The Moon Cave,” taken from their newest album The Mountain, released earlier in 2026. Legendary vocalist Asha Puthli, acclaimed rapper Black Thought, and renowned sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar all joined the performance.
For viewers who missed the live broadcast, both performances are now available to watch.
