Gracie Abrams is once again opening up about the impact Taylor Swift has had on her career. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the 26-year-old singer reflected on what continues to inspire her about Swift’s artistic journey, pointing to the freedom behind her prolific songwriting rather than simply the volume of her releases.
Speaking about her longtime idol and mentor, Abrams praised Taylor Swift’s willingness to document different chapters of her life without hesitation. “Something I’ve admired so much about Taylor’s career, as a forever fan, is her output, not just from a place of a quantity, but seemingly from a place of freedom within herself, to just be like, ‘Yep, here’s the nutshell from this time,’” she told the publication.
The comments arrive at a milestone moment in Gracie Abrams’ own career. The “Look at My Life” singer recently scored her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Daughter From Hell, which debuted atop the chart with 124,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States. The project also delivered a strong global streaming debut, collecting 17.96 million Spotify streams on its first day while placing six songs simultaneously on the Daily Global Songs chart.
Gracie Abrams has repeatedly credited Taylor Swift as both a personal and creative influence throughout the past two years. In a 2025 interview with Cosmopolitan, she called the pop icon “an athlete, a brilliant businessperson, and a genius writer,” arguing that few artists have shaped modern pop culture on the same level.
Previously, she also described Swift as her mentor during an interview with The Times. Recalling their first meeting, Abrams said, “When I met her, it kind of felt like we had known each other already.” She added that Swift has remained “a safe place to land any time I’ve had questions about anything,” highlighting the trust that has developed between the two artists.
Their friendship has also been visible on stage. Abrams joined Swift as an opening act on select dates of The Eras Tour, introducing her music to stadium audiences around the world while further strengthening the bond between the two singer-songwriters. They also collaborated on the song “Us,” from Gracie’s sophomore album The Secret of Us.
