Harry Styles had a laugh about Madison Square Garden’s surprisingly recent wedding résumé during his concert Saturday night. “Madison Square Garden, home of the world champions: the New York Knicks… and they also do weddings,” he told the crowd during the third show of his 30-night residency.

The line came August 29 as Harry Styles continued his Together, Together world tour, which supports his fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. The New York run began August 26 and will continue through October 31, when he is scheduled to close the residency with a Halloween-themed “Harryween” show.

Harry Styles’ joke landed because the Garden has had an unusually eventful summer. The New York Knicks recently ended a 53-year championship drought, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 4-1 in the 2026 NBA Finals. Jalen Brunson was named Finals MVP as the Knicks captured their first title since 1973.

Just six weeks before Styles took the stage, Madison Square Garden hosted another high-profile event: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding. The couple reportedly transformed the arena into an indoor garden for approximately 1,000 guests, with Adam Sandler officiating and performances from Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney.

Swift and Kelce also gave the venue its own wedding-day spectacle, with the Garden marquee displaying “JUST&T MARRIED.” The bride and groom wore custom Christian Dior, while Swift’s brother Austin served as her man of honor and Kelce’s brother Jason was the best man.

That connection gave Harry Styles’ comment an additional layer, considering his history with Swift. The two dated for several months between late 2012 and early 2013, with their relationship later becoming the subject of intense fan and media speculation surrounding Swift’s 1989 era. “Style” was widely interpreted as referencing Styles, while his own 2017 track “Two Ghosts” has frequently been viewed as a response.

Styles was invited to Swift and Kelce’s wedding but could not attend because he was performing at Wembley Stadium on the same night. His fiancée, Zoë Kravitz, attended the ceremony without him. Styles and Kravitz became engaged in April after their relationship developed publicly over the past year.
