Young Thug has finally released Slime Language 3 after hours of uncertainty surrounding the project’s planned midnight arrival. The long-awaited YSL Records compilation is now available, bringing together Young Stoner Life’s current roster with a sprawling 41-track set packed with appearances from Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Future, Yeat, Quavo, Trippie Redd, Mariah the Scientist and more.
The album was originally scheduled to arrive at midnight on August 28, but the release time passed without the project appearing on streaming services. Young Thug addressed the delay on X, writing, “Few changes sorry for the wait,” without providing a new release time. After several additional hours, Slime Language 3 ultimately arrived, turning what had been an unusually short rollout into an even more unpredictable release.
Slime Language 3 follows 2021’s Slime Language 2, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 113,000 equivalent album units in its opening week. The original Slime Language arrived in 2018 and opened at No. 8, establishing the compilation series as a showcase for Young Stoner Life rather than a conventional Young Thug solo project.
This third installment places a stronger emphasis on the label’s newer generation. Artists including 1300SAINT, Tezzus, diamond*, iyrus, Biggs money, Sk8star and Lil Unky appear throughout the project, while established names from the YSL orbit and outside collaborators expand the album’s reach. The result is a two-disc project that stretches across 41 tracks, making Slime Language 3 one of the franchise’s largest releases to date.
The project’s development had been teased for months before its sudden announcement. 1300SAINT first mentioned Slime Language 3 during a May 16 appearance on PlaqueBoyMax’s stream, then followed up with another tease on X two days later. Young Thug later gave fans a clearer idea of its musical direction during a June backstage interview, describing the sound as reminiscent of “Barter 6,” pointing toward the melodic, unconventional trap style associated with his 2015 breakthrough.
The finished album arrives just days before Young Thug is scheduled to launch The New Generation Tour on September 1. The trek will feature newer YSL artists alongside NAV, giving the rapper an opportunity to bring the roster showcased across Slime Language 3 directly to audiences.
