Jamie Miller has scored his first No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart with “Babydoll,” becoming the first Welsh artist in 15 years to top the ranking. The breakthrough comes after a closely fought chart battle with Tate McRae, whose new song “Housewife” debuts at No. 2, just 556 chart units behind Miller’s hit.

Miller’s achievement marks a significant moment for Welsh music, with “Babydoll” becoming the first UK chart-topper by a Welsh artist since Sian Evans featured on DJ Fresh’s “Louder” in 2011. He is also the first solo male Welsh artist to reach the summit in 41 years, following Shakin’ Stevens, whose festive classic “Merry Christmas Everyone” topped the chart in 1985.

Released in August 2026, “Babydoll” has built its success through a steady climb rather than an immediate chart explosion. The song entered the UK chart at No. 84 in September, broke into the Top 40 on September 24, and reached the Top 10 a week later. After peaking at No. 2 last week, Miller finally claimed the top position.

Tate McRae narrowly misses the top spot with “Housewife,” which opens at No. 2 after the intense contest with Miller. Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan also make a strong showing, as “Expectations” debuts at No. 3.

Elsewhere, Zach Bryan earns a new personal best with “Lies,” his collaboration with Lana Del Rey, which debuts to No. 7 to become his highest-charting UK single to date. The American singer-songwriter also places “Lodi When” at No. 33, adding another Top 40 entry to his growing UK chart presence.

Fontaines D.C. also make an impact on the Singles Chart following the success of their album Dopamine Chamber, which tops the Official Albums Chart this week. Three tracks from the record enter the Top 40: “Marianne” reaches No. 12, marking a new personal best for the band, while “Japan” debuts at No. 14 and “Demolition” enters at No. 18.
