Karol G and Drake’s long-awaited first official collaboration is already giving fans plenty to unpack. Beyond pairing two of music’s biggest global stars, “Ahí” features an unexpected self-reference, with Drake interpolating lyrics from his own 2026 song “New Bestie.”
Released on August 7 as part of Karol G’s seventh studio album, No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, “Ahí” finds the pair trading flirtatious verses over breezy Afrobeats-inspired production crafted by Ovy On The Drums. While Karol G sings about protecting a heart that is still healing, Drake responds with smooth melodies, Spanish-language lines and a callback to one of his own recent records.
Near the end of the track, Drake revisits lyrics from “New Bestie,” a standout from his May 2026 album MAID OF HONOUR. On the original song, he famously rapped, “Yeah, I want a Latina, I want a Latina / I want a G like Karolina,” a playful line that immediately sparked speculation among fans about a possible collaboration.
On “Ahí,” the Canadian rapper expands that idea instead of simply repeating it. He sings, “I want a Latina, I want a Latina / I want a face just like Karolina / And I want a waist just like Karolina … I’m not a drug dealer, my money’s way cleaner,” transforming what was once a passing lyric into a direct collaboration with the Colombian superstar herself.
The interpolation serves as a clever narrative bridge between Drake’s spring releases and Karol G’s latest era. Recently, Drake attended her Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour stop in Toronto, fueling speculation that a collab was imminent.
“Ahí” was co-written by Karol G, Drake, Ovy On The Drums and KEITYN, and blends Latin pop, Afrobeats and R&B into one of the album’s most laid-back moments. Drake contributes a pre-chorus, layered harmonies, a bridge and an outro partially delivered in Spanish, continuing his occasional exploration of bilingual songwriting following previous collaborations with Latin artists like Bad Bunny.
The collaboration arrives on No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, a 14-track project that also features Bruno Mars, Greg Gonzalez, Judeline and Rusowsky. Designed as an emotional journey through love, heartbreak, healing and self-discovery, the album marks another stylistic evolution for Karol G while giving fans one of the year’s most unexpected crossovers.
