Lady Gaga has released her highly anticipated new single, “The Dead Dance,” a haunting yet funk-driven track tied to the second season of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday. The song, out September 3, arrives the same day as the premiere of Wednesday Season 2, Part 2, where Gaga also stars as Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious Nevermore Academy teacher.
Written by Gaga alongside Andrew Watt and Cirkut, the track blends disco-inspired grooves with eerie gothic touches. The single was first teased through tour merchandise, a Roblox event, and most recently at Netflix’s Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York, where coffin-shaped listening booths gave fans an early preview.

Adding to the hype, Gaga filmed a music video with Tim Burton on Mexico’s eerie Island of the Dolls. The visuals are expected to lean into gothic theatrics, aligning with Wednesday’s dark aesthetic.
“The Dead Dance” also builds on Gaga’s successful MAYHEM era, which began with her seventh studio album earlier this year, and continues with the tour in support of the record.
With her dual role as both performer and actress, Gaga’s entry into Wednesday feels like a full-circle moment. After her 2011 track “Bloody Mary” went viral during Season 1, she now officially joins the Addams family world — this time with new music!
