New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival delivered one of its most anticipated sets of weekend one as Lorde returned to the stage on April 24. Performing on the Shell Gentilly Stage from roughly 5:30 to 7 p.m., she stripped back her usual production for a direct, high-energy set that leaned entirely on crowd connection.
Gone were the signature visuals and choreography that have defined the The Ultrasound World Tour. Instead, the set focused on raw delivery, with no screen, no dancers, and minimal staging. That decision reshaped the pacing, allowing transitions between Pure Heroine staples and newer Virgin material to feel more immediate. Tracks like “Solar Power” and “Oceanic Feeling” made the cut despite recent tour absences, while “Shapeshifter” was notably left out.
The performance also marked her first Jazz Fest appearance since 2017, and the response reflected that gap. Audience engagement peaked during “Ribs,” performed in the crowd, and again during “David,” where Lorde moved to the barricade for a more intimate moment. Classics such as “Royals,” “Team,” and “Green Light” maintained their impact.
Following the festival, Lorde resumes the Latin American leg on April 28 in Monterrey, before heading to Los Angeles for two dates at the Kia Forum in May. European stops, including Croatia in August and a final show in Luxembourg in September, will close out the run.
