The Path to Balloonerism

Mac Miller began working on the tracks for Balloonerism between 2013 and 2014, around the same time he released his mixtape Faces. According to E. Dan of ID Labs, the album originated from week-long jam sessions, with some songs later making their way onto Faces. While the project went through multiple iterations and tracklists, it remained unfinished during Mac’s lifetime.

A teaser for Balloonerism premiered at Camp Flog Gnaw in November 2024 through an animated trailer, sparking excitement among fans. A few days later, the album was officially announced alongside its cover art. According to an official statement, this project held great significance for Mac, who had commissioned artwork and regularly discussed its release prior to his passing.
