Madison Beer is returning to her pop roots with her upcoming album Locket, departing from the slower pace of Silence Between Songs. In a new interview with Vogue Italia, the 26-year-old singer described the project as a refreshing shift from the narrative-driven structure of her 2023 Grammy-nominated album. Beer explained that the change was intentional, born from a desire for creative freedom and a more intuitive process. “It was different because I felt freer to write whatever I wanted,” she said. “I didn’t feel constrained; I could follow any intuition that inspired me in that moment. I knew I wanted to do something more pop and a bit less narrative, even though there are still songs that tell stories.”

That sense of ease extends beyond the album’s themes and into its structure. Beer revealed earlier this month that she deliberately kept Locket to 11 tracks—a notable contrast to the 17 songs on her debut Life Support and the 14 on Silence Between Songs. For Beer, the concise tracklist is a way to protect the emotional resonance of each piece. She noted that longer albums often dilute listeners’ connection to individual songs, something she wanted to avoid in her third body of work.

Locket, arriving January 16, 2026 via Epic Records and Sing It Loud! Records, has already been previewed by three singles. “Make You Mine” enjoyed strong commercial success, peaking at No. 50 on the UK Singles Chart and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording. The more recent tracks “Yes Baby” and “Bittersweet” have further given fans a glimpse into the record.
