Madonna has added another landmark achievement to her career as CONFESSIONS II debuts at No. 1 on the Official UK Albums Chart. The release becomes her 13th chart-topping album in the United Kingdom and makes history by establishing her as the first American female artist to score No. 1 albums across five different decades.
The latest milestone arrives more than 40 years after Like a Virgin reached the summit in 1984. From the 1980s through the 2020s, Madonna has continued to reinvent herself while maintaining remarkable commercial success in one of the world’s biggest music markets.
CONFESSIONS II also marks Madonna’s first UK No. 1 album since MDNA in 2012. With her 13th chart-topper, she now equals Elvis Presley for the fifth-most No. 1 albums in Official UK Albums Chart history.
Her list of UK No. 1 albums now includes Like a Virgin (1984), True Blue (1986), Like a Prayer (1989), The Immaculate Collection (1990), Evita: The Complete Motion Picture Soundtrack (1996), Ray of Light (1998), Music (2000), American Life (2003), Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005), Hard Candy (2008), Celebration (2009), MDNA (2012), and now CONFESSIONS II (2026).
The success extends beyond the main albums ranking. CONFESSIONS II also opens at No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart after selling the most vinyl copies in the UK over the past week.
Released on July 3 through Warner Records, CONFESSIONS II serves as a sequel to 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor. The album reunites Madonna with longtime collaborator Stuart Price while also featuring production from Martin Garrix, Cirkut, Andrew Watt, Mirwais Ahmadzaï, Arca and PARISI. Guest appearances include Sabrina Carpenter, Feid, Stromae and Madonna’s daughter Lola Leon.
Elsewhere on this week’s UK chart, Sienna Spiro celebrates a breakthrough moment as her debut album Visitor enters at No. 2, becoming the biggest-selling debut album by a British artist this year while also topping the Official Record Store Chart.
