Madonna has returned to the summit of the Australian charts. The Queen of Pop’s new album, Confessions II, debuts at No. 1 on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart, giving the music icon her 13th chart-topping album in the country and her first Australian No. 1 in more than a decade.

The milestone marks Madonna’s first album to open atop the ARIA Albums Chart since Rebel Heart in 2015. Her previous studio release, Madame X, debuted at No. 2 in 2019.

Released on July 3 through Warner Records, Confessions II serves as the official follow-up to 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor. The 15th studio album reunites Madonna with longtime collaborator Stuart Price, whose production helped define the original record. Additional contributions come from Martin Garrix, Cirkut, Andrew Watt, Mirwais Ahmadzaï, Arca and Parisi, while guest appearances include Sabrina Carpenter, Feid, Stromae and Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lola Leon.

Although the project explores themes shaped by personal struggles and the current sociopolitical climate, Madonna intentionally leaned into uplifting dance music.

Australian fans have embraced that vision immediately. Alongside its overall No. 1 debut, Confessions II also enters at No. 1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

Elsewhere on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart, Sienna Spiro earns the highest-charting debut of her career as Visitor opens at No. 3. Olivia Rodrigo holds strong at No. 2 with You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, completing an all-female top three. On the ARIA Singles Chart, Ella Langley leads the way as “Choosin’ Texas” claims the No. 1 position.
