KATSEYE are entering a pivotal week with the release of “Pinky Up” and their upcoming Coachella debut, but attention remains fixed on Manon and the uncertainty surrounding her hiatus. A newly surfaced interview quote, recorded just days before her break, is now adding fresh context to the ongoing speculation.
In a cover story for Nylon, Manon acknowledged the internal dynamics of a six-member group, stating, “There’s six of us, so obviously not everyone’s always going to be on the same page about everything.” She continued with a candid reflection on compromise: “I think we all are at, or have been learning and are finally coming to, a point where for the group’s sake, you give and you take. You pick your battles.” According to the publication, the group declined to comment further on her hiatus or the fan theories that followed.
Those remarks have taken on new weight as KATSEYE’s comeback rollout unfolds without her visible participation. The teasers for “Pinky Up,” released ahead of its April 9 drop, features Daniela, Yoonchae, Lara, Sophia, and Megan, with Manon absent from both the visuals and promotional activity. Hours after the first teaser surfaced, she removed the group’s name from her Instagram bio, a move that intensified online concern about her status.
Fan reaction has been immediate and polarized. Some have called for clarity from HYBE and Geffen Records, while others have rallied behind Manon following her recent message on Weverse: “I’m happy and I’m healthy. I’ll share more soon.” That reassurance arrived weeks after the official late-February announcement confirming she would step back from group activities to focus on her wellbeing, with no timeline for return.
Meanwhile, “Pinky Up” marks the group’s second single of 2026. KATSEYE’s “Internet Girl” debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later climbed to No. 13 on Spotify’s Daily Global chart, marking a strong foundation for their global push. “Pinky Up,” announced on March 31, lands less than 24 hours before their Coachella debut, positioning the single as a defining moment in their breakthrough.
