Mariah Carey has once again redefined chart history. Her timeless holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has remained at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, extending its reign to a record-breaking 22nd total week atop the chart. With this latest achievement, the song becomes the first in history to reach No. 1 in eight separate chart calendar years: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and now 2026, as this week’s chart officially closes in the new year.
The milestone further cements Carey’s status as one of the most dominant artists in Billboard history. Thanks to the continued success of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” the pop icon now extends her all-time record for the most cumulative weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, reaching an unprecedented 101 weeks.
Originally released in November 1994 as part of her Merry Christmas album, the song’s rise to chart supremacy was anything but immediate. It first topped the Hot 100 in 2019—25 years after its release—following a rule change that allowed holiday classics to fully compete on the chart. Since then, it has become an annual phenomenon, reliably returning to No. 1 every holiday season and outperforming contemporary releases in streaming, sales, and radio airplay.
Just last week, Carey made history by becoming the first artist ever to accumulate 100 total weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100. That landmark was also powered by “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which accounts for the majority of those weeks. Carey’s Hot 100 reign now spans 19 different chart-toppers, beginning with her 1990 debut single “Vision of Love.” Her closest competitors remain far behind, with Rihanna at 60 weeks, The Beatles at 59, and Drake at 56.
