Mariah the Scientist has officially released her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Hearts Sold Separately, out today (August 22) via Buckles Laboratories and Epic Records. The Atlanta-born singer has spent months building momentum for this moment, and the 10-track project is her most ambitious project yet.

The rollout for Hearts Sold Separately has been carefully crafted, pairing cinematic visuals. A military-inspired narrative first introduced in the “Burning Blue” video was expanded into a full trailer, featuring cameos from Love Island star Michelle “Chelly” Bissainthe and rapper Karrahboo. The trailer not only teased the record’s concept but also revealed the official tracklist, confirming Kali Uchis as the sole featured artist.

The album’s tracklist includes “Sacrifice,” “United Nations + 1000 Ways to Die,” “Eternal Flame,” “Like You Never,” and the standout “Is It a Crime” featuring Kali Uchis. Across its 10 songs, Mariah leans into themes of heartbreak, resilience, and desire, with lush production from frequent collaborators Matt1k and Nineteen85. The LP marks a noticeable shift from 2023’s To Be Eaten Alive, which leaned on heavyweight features but received a mixed reception. This time, Mariah takes center stage with nine solo tracks.

Much of the anticipation around Hearts Sold Separately was driven by the success of its first two singles. “Burning Blue” became her breakout hit, peaking inside the Top 25 of the Billboard Hot 100, earning Gold certification, and topping both Rhythmic and Urban radio charts. Its haunting visual aesthetic set the tone for the era, while “Is It a Crime” featuring Kali Uchis added star power and critical acclaim.
