Michael Jackson’s catalog is not simply rebounding following the release of Michael — it is exploding on a scale few legacy artists have ever achieved in the streaming era. Since the April 24, 2026 global theatrical debut of the long-awaited biopic, Jackson’s music has surged back into mainstream consumption with extraordinary force, pushing his solo catalog to more than double its recent streaming baseline.

In the week following the film’s premiere, Jackson ranked as Spotify’s seventh most-streamed artist globally, trailing only Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny, BTS, Drake, Noah Kahan, and Taylor Swift. For an artist whose commercial peak predates streaming by decades, that placement is staggering. Even more striking, his Spotify monthly audience has now surpassed 81 million listeners — the highest figure of his career on the platform.

The biggest gains are happening where it matters most: individual songs. “Billie Jean” surged to No. 3 on the Daily Spotify Global Chart with nearly 4 million daily streams, while “Beat It” climbed to No. 5, confirming that Michael is not merely reviving passive nostalgia but actively driving chart-level competitive consumption. On Spotify’s weekly global rankings, “Billie Jean” jumped 60 places to No. 5 with 28.5 million streams, and “Beat It” soared 117 spots to No. 15 with 22.1 million. Elsewhere, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “They Don’t Care About Us” all entered the top 100.

Album metrics are telling the same story. Thriller re-entered the Billboard 200 top 10 at No. 7 this week, marking one of the album’s most dramatic modern-era resurgences. Simultaneously, Michael: Songs from the Motion Picture and Number Ones are driving parallel sales and streaming activity. This scale of resurgence mirrors what blockbuster music biopics have done for artists like Queen and Elvis Presley.

The impact extends beyond his solo years. The Jackson 5 catalog reportedly rose 163% globally in the week ending April 30, generating 29 million streams, while The Jacksons’ broader catalog also saw major gains.
