Miley Cyrus offered some candid insight into her past collaborations—while also looking ahead to her next musical chapter. In a recent interview, the Grammy-winning artist revealed that she believes her 2020 duet with Dua Lipa, “Prisoner,” might have been better suited to a different album in her catalog.
“It wasn’t my idea [to have ‘Prisoner’ on my album],” Miley admitted. “And no shade to Dua, but ‘Prisoner’ just isn’t cohesive with the album. She would have been much better on something in Endless Summer Vacation—like she would’ve been great on ‘Wildcard’ or ‘River.’”

“Prisoner” was featured on Plastic Hearts, Miley’s rock-focused seventh studio album, which also included collaborations with Billy Idol and Joan Jett. Although the track was a commercial success and a fan favorite, Miley now reflects on how it might have blended more naturally with the pop and disco-infused sounds of Endless Summer Vacation, which arrived three years later.
While revisiting her past music, Miley—who just released her ninth album, Something Beautiful—also shared an exciting update about what’s next: her upcoming project already has a full 12-song tracklist. Although no official release date or title has been revealed, this confirms that even more new music is on the horizon, despite the recent release.
