Nicki Minaj made an unexpected public appearance on Sunday, December 21, when she took the stage at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The rapper joined newly appointed TPUSA President Erika Kirk for a live interview and audience Q&A.
The moment carried added weight following the recent loss of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September 2025. Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, addressed the crowd before welcoming Minaj, framing the discussion around resilience, conviction, and public pressure. When asked why she has become increasingly outspoken about political and cultural issues, Minaj delivered a fiery response.
“I just got tired of being pushed around,” Minaj said. “Why do I even care about these people and what they think? Who are they? They don’t even know who they are. I have something inside of me that’s stronger than what’s out there. I’m not going to back down anymore. I’m not going to back down ever again.”
Throughout the conversation, Minaj spoke openly about navigating criticism, public scrutiny, and her decision to speak without restraint. She emphasized personal strength and independence, framing her stance as a refusal to be silenced rather than a calculated political pivot.

“I have the utmost respect and admiration for our President,” Minaj said. “He’s from Queens, New York, like me. What it has shown me, personally, is sometimes, even at the worst feeling time in your life, you think that you’re never going to come back from it, but you do.”
She went on to commend the administration’s leadership style, calling Trump and Vance “powerful, smart, strong,” while also emphasizing their ability to connect with everyday people. “They’re one of us,” she added, underscoring her sense of personal alignment.
