Nicki Minaj has once again sent shockwaves through the internet. On October 20, the rap superstar deactivated her Instagram account, which boasted more than 200 million followers, without explanation. The move comes after a turbulent few weeks filled with online drama, canceled album plans, and renewed tensions with music industry heavyweights including Jay-Z and Roc Nation.
Nicki’s exit from Instagram comes just days after she appeared to cancel her highly anticipated sixth studio album, NM6. On October 15, she posted that she was “done with music,” blaming what she called “industry sabotage” and “media lies.” However, in true Nicki fashion, she followed up with a different message just days later, hinting that she may still release music under her new “Billionaire Barbie” era.

This isn’t her first social media disappearance. Earlier this year, in July 2025, Minaj claimed she had been “locked out” of Instagram following posts that targeted Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez.
While her Instagram has gone silent, Nicki remains very active on X, using the platform to air grievances, tease upcoming work, and even poke fun at rivals. On October 21, she posted an AI-generated image of Jay-Z wearing a pink wig, referencing her “Barbie” persona and reigniting her months-long feud with the rap mogul. “I AM YOUR KARMA,” she wrote.
Despite the chaos, Minaj appears to be laying the groundwork for her next chapter. Earlier this week, she hinted that her next major release could arrive on March 27, 2026, teasing a trilogy of documentaries and audiobooks tied to her brand. In her own words: “I could put out an album tomorrow & STILL revolutionize the industry yet AGAIN on 3.27.26.”
