Speculation surrounding JAY-Z’s long-awaited new album has been put on hold. After reports claimed the rap icon had already completed a new project, Roc Nation publicly denied the rumor with a brief but unmistakable response shared through Instagram Stories: “Fake news.”
The statement arrived just hours after music executive Ray Daniels fueled widespread discussion by suggesting JAY-Z had already finished recording a new album and was simply waiting for the right business arrangement before releasing it.
Speaking on Ray Daniels Presents, Daniels claimed, “His album is done. It’s completely done. It’s just, we might get it if somebody partners with him. If nobody partners with him, it’s not coming.” The comments quickly spread across social media, prompting fans to speculate that JAY-Z’s first studio album since 4:44 could finally be on the horizon.
Roc Nation, however, wasted little time addressing the claim. The denial comes during one of the busiest stretches of JAY-Z’s career in recent years. Rather than promoting new music, the rapper has spent much of 2026 celebrating two landmark anniversaries: 30 years of Reasonable Doubt and 25 years of The Blueprint through the JAY-Z30 Tour.
Demand for the stadium run has been so strong that second shows were recently added in both London and Los Angeles after the initial dates sold out. The celebration began with two packed nights at Yankee Stadium on July 10 and 11, where fans were treated to career-spanning performances and surprise appearances from Eminem, Pharrell Williams, and Slick Rick. One of the most talked-about moments saw Eminem join JAY-Z for a rare live rendition of “Renegade,” marking their first performance together in years.
The anniversary campaign has also renewed interest in JAY-Z’s catalog beyond the live shows. Earlier this year, the original version of “Dead Presidents” became available on streaming platforms, while his freestyle performance at Roots Picnic sparked online debate after listeners interpreted several lyrics as references to Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West.
Although Roc Nation’s response appears to close the door on the latest album speculation, it doesn’t necessarily rule out future music. JAY-Z has remained selective about releasing solo material throughout the latter stages of his career.
For now, fans eager for a follow-up to 2017’s 4:44 will have to settle for the anniversary celebrations.
