Nicki Minaj is taking her time with her next album—and for good reason. In a recent interview with Vogue Italia, the rap icon gave fans an update on her creative process, emphasizing her dedication to making music that matters.

I’ve got a bunch of really strong tracks,” Nicki said. “But I don’t want to rush. I want the record to mean something, both for the fans and for me. I’ll never be one of those people who puts out songs just to put them out. I love music. I respect it.”

The Grammy-nominated artist made a major return in 2023 with Pink Friday 2, her long-awaited fifth studio album. The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and included hits like “Super Freaky Girl” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” Since then, Nicki Minaj has remained active with features, including an appearance on Juice WRLD’s posthumous track “AGATS2 (Insecure),” and her Pink Friday 2 World Tour.

In September 2024, Nicki announced a new album, Pink Friday 3, which was originally intended to be a deluxe edition of her latest release. “Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album,” she said at the time. “The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album.”

However, the rap icon hadn’t revealed any new details—until now. While there is still no release date for her sixth studio album, fans can expect a project that’s intentional and deeply personal. For now, the Barbz will have to be patient.
