Noah Kahan has a surprisingly specific request for fans attending his concerts: if nature calls, don’t sacrifice hygiene for a spot near the stage. The singer-songwriter addressed the issue on social media after reports surfaced of a fan defecating in the crowd during his June 26 show in Philadelphia.
Posting on X, Kahan reacted with humor while highlighting the people left to deal with the aftermath. The incident quickly spread online, with fans claiming someone chose not to leave their place near the barricade and instead relieved themselves on the venue floor. Similar stories have circulated at concerts by other artists in recent years, particularly during high-demand standing-room events.
“If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao,” Kahan wrote. “I’ve pooped my pants as much as the next 29 year old but you guys gotta understand there’s a venue worker out there with a 1000 yard stare after dealing with that.”
Rather than ending the conversation there, Kahan followed up with another self-deprecating joke that only fueled fan reactions.
“I sh*t myself onstage in Charlottesville but that’s because I am dedicated to my craft.”
The timing comes as Kahan continues his successful Great Divide Tour, which launched on June 11 in Orlando and is scheduled to run through December 7 with a final stop in Paris. The trek supports his fourth studio album, The Great Divide, released on April 24 through Mercury Records.
The album has been one of the biggest commercial success stories of Kahan’s career. It debuted at No. 1 in both the United States and the United Kingdom, while becoming the highest-opening rock album in the U.S. in more than a decade.
