Noah Kahan returns to Saturday Night Live tonight, May 9, for one of the biggest television performances of his career so far. Fresh off earning his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with The Great Divide, the Vermont singer-songwriter is set to appear as the musical guest alongside host Matt Damon during the penultimate episode of SNL Season 51.
The episode arrives at a major moment for Kahan. Released on April 24, The Great Divide debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 389,000 equivalent album units, marking the largest week for a rock album since Billboard adopted equivalent album metrics in late 2014. The project also secured the third-biggest opening week of 2026 across all genres.

More Details
This week’s broadcast doubles as SNL’s annual Mother’s Day episode, a tradition that often incorporates appearances from cast members’ real-life mothers during sketches or opening segments.
Matt Damon’s return also adds another layer of anticipation. The Oscar winner previously hosted in 2002 and 2018, with the latter producing his widely discussed Brett Kavanaugh cold open.
Next week, Saturday Night Live closes out Season 51 with Will Ferrell returning as host and Paul McCartney set as musical guest.
