Olivia Rodrigo has released an alternate music video for her “expectations” remix featuring Chappell Roan, giving fans another version of the collaboration through Spotify. Titled “expectations (wheel of misfortune),” the exclusive video arrived on October 19, four days after the artists premiered the remix and its official music video.
The alternate version draws its name from the Wheel of Fortune-inspired segment in the original video, which transforms the familiar game show concept into a “Wheel of Misfortune.”

Fans can find the video by searching Spotify for “expectations (feat. Chappell Roan) [wheel of misfortune]” or “expectations wheel of misfortune.” Access requires Spotify Premium, while the main music video remains available on Rodrigo’s YouTube channel.
The original video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, introduced viewers to “The Big Expectations Show,” a fictional television spectacle hosted by Talking Heads frontman David Byrne as Johnny Johnson. Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan appear as contestants across spoofs of classic game shows, including Family Feud, Hollywood Squares, Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, with the formats renamed “Sister Squabble” and “Wheel of Misfortune” along the way.
Retro sets, exaggerated personas and ’80s- and ’90s-inspired outfits give the production a deliberately over-the-top feel. Rodrigo moves between different characters throughout the competition, while Roan enters midway with her own team, bringing her camp-infused, Midwest-princess aesthetic into the mix. Producer Dan Nigro, drag queen Aquaria and glam-punk duo Venus Twins also make appearances.
Released on October 15, the remix marked Rodrigo’s first-ever remix and Roan’s first featured appearance on one of her tracks. The two singers already shared a creative connection through Nigro, who has worked extensively with both artists. Roan also previously opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the Sour and Guts tours and performed at Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival.
Commercially, the collaboration made an immediate impression. The updated “expectations” debuted at No. 4 on the Daily Global Spotify Chart with 4.595 million streams, while its official music video collected 6.4 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours. The track also reached No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Songs Chart.
